This one-day workshop at the Chimacum Grange will introduce landowners to a series of strategies and tools for maximizing the economic potential of conservation-based forest management.  Speakers from companies and organizations in the Northwest that specialize in small woodland management, markets, and other incentive programs will provide thorough overviews of each strategy.

Topics will include:

  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification and markets
  • Forestry based carbon offset programs
  • Small-scale processing and direct sales
  • Working forest conservation easements
  • The Jefferson County LandWorks Collaborative
  • Financial assistance programs for small woodland enterprises

Preregistration for this workshop is required as space is limited. Registration cost is $15 and includes lunch and refreshments. For more information or to register, contact Ian Hanna at 360-379-9421 x 2 or via email.

This workshop will be repeated in the Nisqually Watershed at the Ohop Grange on January 19th, 2008.

This material is based upon work supported by USDA/CSREES under Award Number 2004-49200-03123.RME logoCREES logo
