This two-day workshop will train landowners to develop their own comprehensive forest inventory and monitoring program.

Download course description and registration flier.

Small forest landowners in the Pacific Northwest manage some of the most biologically rich forests in the world.  This biological diversity provides many opportunities to manage for multiple benefits.

By understanding the resources and growth characteristics of forests, stewardship plans can be developed that optimize the ecological and economic opportunities that forests can offer.  By treating forestry like a business, landowners can monitor productivity, reduce risk and position themselves for emerging markets such as certified wood products and ecosystem services.

Participants of this two-day intensive course will learn how to use basic forestry tools and data collection methods to create an inventory of their forest resources and implement a monitoring program.  A special segment will also address how to monitor carbon dynamics in the forest and prepare for emerging carbon offset markets.

This workshop will provide useful information for all owners of small forestlands including family forest owners, land trusts, non-profit conservation groups, municipalities, small business, and others.

For additional information on this course, contact Kirk Hanson at: 360-316-9317, kirk@nnrg.org.
