This workshop will introduce landowners to the field monitoring, data processing, and ongoing commitments necessary to participate in NW Neutral, NNRG's carbon offset program.

In 2008 NNRG will launch NW Neutral, one of the first carbon offset programs for small woodland owners in the U.S.  During this one-day training workshop, Northwest Certified Forestry members will be introduced to the tools, skills and information necessary to participate in NW Neutral and optimize the carbon sequestration value of their forests.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

   1. How to inventory a forest and calculate carbon volumes
   2. Silvicultural strategies for optimizing carbon sequestration
   3. Carbon products for small woodland owners
   4. Third party verification of carbon sequestration and storage
   5. Legal and financial obligations
   6. Other programmatic details related to NW Neutral

NNRG's carbon team will also provide an update on program development and a timeline for program implementation in 2008.

This event is limited Northwest Certified Forestry certified and associate members only. Certified members who are still completing the certification process are welcome.

The cost of the event is $15 and includes lunch. To preregister or receive additional information, contact Shelley French at 360-379-9421 x 1 or shelley@nnrg.org.

Thanks for all your help and advice.  You’ve given us a whole new way to look at the farm, and hopes for being able to accomplish some goals.
