New Northwest Mills Certified For Chain of Custody

Three new mills have recently gotten FSC® certified in Washington and Oregon

Three new mills have recently gotten FSC® certified in Washington and Oregon - two near Vancouver and one near Eugene. All are in response to growth in regional, national and international demand for FSC building materials, both structural and finish.

Columbia Vista - This Vancouver area mill buys Doug-fir and focuses on a variety of smaller dimension timbers markets (4x, cross-arms, export) and produces some framing lumber as fall down product. To discuss log sales, contact buyer Fred Schatz at 360-892-0770 x 113. General information is available online at www.columbiavistacorp.com.

Hambleton Lumber - This Camas area mill focuses on large timbers for West Coast markets, with Doug-fir comprising about 90% of production. Contact log buyer George Coulter at 360-835-2148 or by email. For more information see www.hambleton.biz.

Go Figure Hardwoods - This Eugene area hardwood mill focuses on maple, madrone, and myrtlewood and is certified through the Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities Partnership's group chain of custody program. They specialize in figured hardwoods, but produce all grades, book matched set, sequential cuts, whole tree units, and color matched sorts. Two vacuum kilns are on site for quick turn-around on custom orders. Contact John Ely at 541-946-2070 or by email for more information.

what they're saying

“FSC® offers us an opportunity to distinguish our products
in the marketplace and NCF group certification cut our
costs by more than half. NCF has also been the most
active organization we know of in identifying regional markets
for our products.”
